Bury Cricket Club
The 1st XI recorded their first victory of the season with a 5 wicket home victory over Hadfield St Andrews.
The new visitors to Radcliffe Road won the toss and elected to bat first and Mukhtar Nasir struck early to remove the opening bat and numbers three and four for a combined total of one run. The wicket-keeping opener Tranter and overseas amateur Louis van Zyl fought back, putting on 70 for the fourth wicket in 18 overs, before Ali Niazi removed the former. The Hadfield lower order struggled and a superb spell from Kershaski Jno Lewis (4/20) meant they collapsed from 92-3 to 104 all out.
Zain Khan (13), as he did in the first game at Mottram, looked promising opening the batting alongside the steady Gary Garner. Jno Lewis (39) just fell short of the 40 mark for the second week running, but he and Garner (24) had done most of the hard work - the score 88-3 when Lewis fell. A slight Bury stutter before the finish saw chances of a maximum points tally dissipate, but they still comfortably came home with a 5-wicket win.
