Walshaw 1st XI v Bury CC 1st XI

Walshaw 1st XI v Bury CC 1st XI

Saturday saw Bury 1s travel to Sycamore Road on a lovely sunny day as we took on Walshaw.
It was a bad start as the skipper lost the toss and Walshaw elected to bat on a very good wicket considering the recent wet weather. Walshaw got off to a solid start reaching 39-0 off their first 10 overs, then on came Gustav (the pigeon killer) Nolte for his first over for Bury and what a over it was picking up a double wicket maiden!
A couple of overs later another change came about with Asif Iqbal taking the ball and just like Gustav’s over Asif picked up a wicket in is first over. At the drinks break the home side were 93/4, Rhodes and S. Bhojani started to build a partnership of just under the 50 mark before Alex (Bullshark) Breckin picked up Bhojani for a well made 48. Gustav came back on for his second spell alongside Mucky (Angry boy) Nasir to finish off the innings and to leave Walshaw 188 all out and Gustav finishing with his first Michelle Pfeiffer for the club.
The Bury reply started without any drama until the 5th over when Walshaw’s overseas Connor Weal found his area with a fine spell of bowling, and ripped through the top order claiming the first 6 Bury wickets and finished with figures of 6 for 11. The only shining light within the Bury innings was a fine 32 not out by Mucky in the middle order and a partnership of 40 alongside Jacob (In the doghouse) Ramsay (19) as Bury were all out for 97.
A lot to work at during the week but we go again next weekend as we host Heyside at Radcliffe Road.

Jon Wiggans (Captain).
