The U11s bounced back from last week’s defeat to move back to the top of the West Division 1 with 2 home wins in 3 days.
On Monday, Bury batted first against Roe Green. Lucas Alford scored a quick 25 from 14 balls, with Sam Smith, Harry Wolstenholme, Hammad Ajmal and Fawad Ahmed all also reaching double figures in a net total of 274. Wickets weren’t easy to find but some tight bowling, and a key wicket for Sam Smith in the final over, saw Roe Green fall just short at 264.
On Wednesday, another tight game against Heaton saw a similar outcome. Heaton scored 268, with 5 bowlers taking a wicket apiece. Henry Potts was the top scorer with 26 from 18 balls, and Lucas Alford again started the innings well in the first pair with 19. Despite a wicket with the final ball of the innings, Bury had still enough on the board to finish on 273 and secure a second win of the week.
On Sunday, the U13s were also in home action, against Tottington St Johns, and it was the visitors who came away with an 8 wicket win. James McCormack retired on 30 in Bury’s 81/3, however Aadam Gorsi (4-1-7-2) was the only Bury player to take a wicket, with Totty getting over the line with 3 balls to spare.
The U15s had a spare week, but they return to action on Monday away at Egerton.
Junior Star Performer of the Week: Lucas Alford (U11s) for his 25 runs from 14 balls and 3 overs 0 for 6 (Monday) and 19 runs from 18 balls (Wednesday)
