Bury Cricket Club
Bury 3rd XI 201-3 beat Edgworth 196ao by 7 wickets...
The day started badly with Bury losing the toss and being asked to field first in the 26c heat. And things didn’t start much better with Edgworth getting off to a flyer. Some excellent bowling from Metcalfe went unrewarded for a long time before he was finally given the wickets he deserved. After a flutter of wickets being claimed by Matt and Josh Bowen who bowled a superb spell against the in form Thornton, Bury reached the second drinks break with Edgworth 160-4. But a superb spell saw Arslaan Shah and Zarqash Ali Gujjar reduce them to 196 all out. A score that felt well below par.
The batting display that followed was what a captain can only dream of. Zain and Sohale Khan took the attack to Edgworth early and were rattling along at upwards of 8 an over. Although the runs slowed down, the scoreboard kept ticking and before long the 100 partnership was up for no wicket. The game was fast moving away from Edgworth. The managed to sneak through the defences of Zain as he feathered an edge through to the keeper and once Mike Conn and Santos had come and gone, the latter ensuring his stay at the crease was as entertaining as we’ve come to expect, it was left to Haroon and Sohale to finish the innings. The winning runs deservedly being scored by Sohale, who batted perfectly for his 78*.
Vivo stylish player of the match was voted to be Sohale Khan.
Orange Cap is now with Sohale Khan
Purple Cap remains with Arslaan Shah
