Aneeq Hassan signs as professional for 2022 season

17 Oct 2021

Bury Cricket Club are pleased to announce the signing of Aneeq Hassan as club professional for the 2022 season.

Aneeq, 30, joins Bury from Ribblesdale League side Baxenden, where he scored 831 runs (including 9 50s) and took 38 wickets with his leg break bowling in the 2021 season.

He has represented a number of local sides including Euxton, Clitheroe, Salesbury, Burnley, Enfield, Settle and Orrell Red Triangle. We look forward to welcoming Aneeq to the squad throughout the winter.

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank our outgoing professional Ben Gorton. Ben joined the club in 2018, and has scored over 1700 runs for the club, with his most memorable innings being his 165* at Greenfield in 2018, and 131* at Royton in 2021. Last winter, Ben was announced as professional and head junior coach for the 2021 season. Both he and his family, everpresents on a Saturday afternoon, will be missed and we wish him all the best as he moves onto pastures new.
